I went to the SQL2000 promotional conference a few years back and the M$ guys and girls were calling their product "sequel". I figured I was getting the pronunciation from the horses mouth and also after hearing the word "sequel" said sooo many times in 3 days, reverting to saying S-Q-L just seemed too weird...
