There are several ways to do what you want

XmlHttp (http://www.15seconds.com/issue/991125.htm) (Free Builtin Windows
Component)
AspHttp (http://www.serverobjects.com/products.htm#asphttp) (Commercial
component)

for .NET it should be in the system.web.httprequest class.
