I don't have time to look into it today, but we do have a whole bunch of Mac boxen here and I will test this out and report back next week.
To my knowledge, the code I posted has been tested with .doc, .ppt, .pdf, .txt, .zip, .sit, .hqx, .tar and .eps files on a Mac - none of these have been handled by the browser. I'm surprised to hear that jpegs are a specific problem. Have we tried gif and png files as well? What's the QuickTime and OS versions on the Macs?
