Go through all of your browser settings including the security settings
and
all settings on the advanced tab and see what is different to the
laptop.
If the Java App is working but not allowing editing it must either be a
bug
or a difference in the browser settings.  I have had customer using IE6
report very strange bugs that we have been unable to reproduce!

The page requires that running ActiveX controls/plug-ins is
allowed/enabled
and that scripts are allowed.  Try changing your various browser
settings to
prompt for all such situations and you will see.
