Hello Anu,

Here at the University of Washington, "UW Medicine" is the overall name that
applies to 4 medical centers (or hospitals), 9 neighborhood clinics,
affiliations with 3 additional research/medical centers, and an airlift
organization (this differentiates it from the UW School of Medicine which
teaches medicine in a 5-state region).

Consequently, UW Medicine has various policies (some for researchers) available
publically and also a firewall behind which other clinical operations policies
exist for each separate entity within the UW Medicine umbrella. Here are a
couple of key links available publically:

*         UW Medicine Policies page<http://www.uwmedicine.org/about/policies>

*         UW Medicine Compliance Policies
page<http://depts.washington.edu/comply/policies.shtml>

*         UW Medicine Compliance Research
page<http://depts.washington.edu/comply/research.shtml>

My office works with the UW Medicine folks for policies that may affect their
operations differently than those at our 3 campuses, and we use exception
language in policies when these differences occur.

Subject: [acupa-l] Scope of the U-wide Policy Library

Dear Colleagues,

I would like to address a question to those policy administrators amongst the
ACUPA membership who are managing policy libraries for universities which
includes medical schools and clinical facilities (owned or affiliated) who are
referred to as academic medical centers or academic health centers.

Here is a question and a request:

1. Are the policies retaining to university's clinical operations

included within U-wide policy library or are maintained separately by the
individual clinical entity?

2. In either case, could you please send me links to the table of

contents for the policy library (ies): a single all inclusive for all

policies or separate one for non- clinical operations and the one

for clinical operations)?

Thank you in advance for your cooperation and support. Best.

Anu
