Good Morning, We have an inclement weather policy that is directed at students. I've attached the Emergency Closings policy that directly addresses employees.
Emergency Closings In the event of heavy snowfall, power failure, or other conditions that may create an emergency situation, the College may be closed for the day or the opening delayed. When this occurs, an announcement will be made on local radio and television stations. Employees should tune their radios and televisions to one of these stations when weather appears threatening or other conditions suggest a possible closing or delay in opening. When possible, the College will post closing or delay in opening information on its website, www.waketech.edu. When the College is officially closed due to conditions caused by an "emergency," the time lost will constitute excused absences for both students and employees. However, when the College is open during an emergency or adverse weather conditions, staff members who are absent must take vacation leave. _______________________________ Rachel King, M.A. Policies and Procedures Manager Adjunct Instructor, Office Systems Technology Wake Technical Community College 9101 Fayetteville Road Raleigh, NC 27603 (919) 866-5603, Main Campus - MH 326C [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> _______________________________ From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Finkelstein, Ruth Sent: Wednesday, May 21, 2014 9:18 AM To: '[email protected]' ([email protected]) Subject: [acupa-l] Question about employee responsibility during adverse conditions. Greetings and early Memorial Day Wishes to those of you who are Veterans, have family who have served or are actively serving in the military. Question of the moment: Do any of your policies regarding inclement weather or adverse conditions include any language about employee responsibilities to modify their personal schedules in anticipation of delays in getting to work on time? If so, would you share that section or the policy? Thank you ever so much.
