Hi Lynda,

We do not have a waiting period for granting emeritus status to retiring
faculty members if they meet the criteria in the policy (a Board-level policy,
linked below). Once their retirement date is set, action is taken at the next
scheduled meeting of the Board of Visitors, to be effective on the date of
retirement. As you can imagine, the bulk of these are done at our quarterly
meeting in April.

Subject: [acupa-l] Emeritus Policy Question

Hello Everyone!

Here is my question for those of you who have policies for Faculty/Staff
Emeritus:

Do you require a waiting period between the time the employee retires and the
nomination for Emeritus Status? (Note - we are a community college that does
not have tenured faculty)

Thank you & hope to see many of you in Orlando at the annual ACUPA Conference
in a few weeks!
