Hi Lynda, We do not have a waiting period for granting emeritus status to retiring faculty members if they meet the criteria in the policy (a Board-level policy, linked below). Once their retirement date is set, action is taken at the next scheduled meeting of the Board of Visitors, to be effective on the date of retirement. As you can imagine, the bulk of these are done at our quarterly meeting in April.
