Hi Eunice,

Great to hear from you! I just sent a reply to Meg's question: Infectious
Disease Policy - I pointed to the revisions we recently made in our travel
policy<http://policy.ku.edu/international-programs/travel-to-locations-with-travel-warnings>
in response to Ebola. I am also attaching a campus-wide message that we used
to communicate the policy and procedure change. I hope these are helpful.

Thanks,
Amy

Subject: [acupa-l] Document types in addition to policies and procedures

All:

We are looking at issuing official guidance/travel requirements related to the
Ebola Virus Disease (EBV) that are consistent with CDC requirements. At Ohio
State, we only have "policies" which also contain our procedures.

I'm wondering how many of you have things like "presidential memos" or other
types of administrative documents that are required but don't merit a long
standing policy. And that are hosted on the policy website, or other websites.

What types of documents do you have, if any; how do you manage/catalog/track
such documents; and where do you host them?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

-Eunice

--- Begin Message ---
Although Ebola poses little threat to the general population in the United
States and is very unlikely to be an issue at the University of Kansas, in
light of ongoing concerns about the Ebola outbreak in western Africa, we would
like to share recent changes in campus expectations for members of our KU
community traveling to or from affected areas.

The Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention<http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/notices> has issued travel warnings for
nonessential travel to Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone and a travel alert for
travelers to the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

University staff, faculty, and students planning travel to these countries must
contact the Office of International Programs at [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>
or 785-864-6161 before travel commences to discuss their plans and university
requirements for such travel.

Additionally, all faculty, staff, students and KU visitors returning or
arriving from affected areas must notify the Office of International Programs
immediately upon return or arrival for a screening risk assessment and
instructions for health monitoring before returning to or arriving on campus.
KU departments hosting guests or visitors from these areas should also notify
the Office of International Programs.

More details can be found in the University-sponsored Travel to Locations with
Travel Warning
Status<https://policy.ku.edu/international-programs/travel-to-locations-with-travel-warnings>
 policy.

The safety of our students, faculty, and staff always comes first. The KU
Lawrence Campus Alerts<https://alerts.drupal.ku.edu/public-health> website
contains information and resources regarding Ebola. KU is following CDC's
guidance for
universities<http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/page/advice-for-colleges-universities-and-students-about-ebola-in-west-africa>,
and we are working with city, state, and federal officials to monitor the
situation and follow best practices. For specific information about the Ebola
virus, visit the CDC website<http://www.cdc.gov/vhf/ebola/>.

We appreciate your cooperation with this important matter.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey S. Vitter

Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor
