Looks good - only thing I might want to change is the word 'behave' in the
professionalism part - perhaps use 'act' -pat *********************************** Patrice DeCoster, M.S.Ed. Executive Assistant to the Provost SUNY Empire State College [email protected] P: 518-580-2937 F: 518-587-2886 From: ACUPA Board of Directors <[email protected]> To: ACUPA-L <[email protected]>, Date: 04/28/2015 10:14 AM Subject: [acupa-l] ACUPA Mission and Values Sent by: [email protected] Dear ACUPA members, As vice chair for administration, I have had the pleasure of sitting on a small subcommittee that was charged with evaluating and devloping the mission, vision, and values for our organization. The subcommittee was chaired by ACUPA member Andrei Trifonov, from the University of California President?s Office. The group had several meetings to discuss the current mission statement for ACUPA, which is available at acupa.org. In addition, we were to consider a vision statement and values. I have placed the results of our discussions below. Please note that the subcommittee decided that ACUPA is best represented by a Mission Statement and a set of Values, but that a Vision Statement would be superfluous. I am writing to you today to ask for any input you may have on the committee?s deliverable, the ACUPA Mission and Values. If you have questions or comments, please direct them to me at [email protected]. If we don?t hear from you by Friday, May 8, we?ll assume that you approve of this material, and we will place it in the ACUPA Member Orientation Handbook, which we are in the process of developing. Thank you very much! Statements follow: Mission: To advance the discipline of policy management, with a focus on higher education. Values -- The committee worked with these for the bulk of the meetings, and came up with the following values and descriptions, in this order: Collaboration Share ideas for policy development and management Professionalism Behave with respect, integrity, and collegiality Innovation Promote new solutions to manage policies Education Foster learning among policy professionals Joshua Adams ACUPA Vice Chair for Administration Director, Cornell University Policy Office and DFA Communications 35 Thornwood Dr, Suite 200 Ithaca, NY 14850 t: 607.255.8279 f: 607.254.1555 w: www.policy.cornell.edu ΓΌ Please consider the environment before printing this e-mail -- Association of College and University Policy Administrators ATTN: Please be aware that when you respond to an ACUPA-L e-mail, the reply will be distributed to the ENTIRE list of members.
