Hi Nicole,

Our state ethics laws provide guidance on the issue of gifts to employees. The
Office of the General Counsel has a webpage dedicated to this question as it
comes up frequently. This link will take you to the page:
http://counsel.ku.edu/gifts

As far as gifts as incentives for participation in research, surveys, or other
services, the GC office has advised that this is allowable so long as one is
not required to participate in order to get the gift. Many units on our campus
will send a survey and as an incentive they will enter participants names into
a drawing for gifts. However, one can simply enter the drawing and not be
required to complete the survey.

I hope this is helpful!
Amy

Subject: [acupa-l] gift card policy

Hi,

Does anyone have gift card policies that addresses one or both of these
situations?

* Gift card given to an employee for recognition

* Gift cards purchased to be given to research participants

Best,
Nicole
