Hi Pat,

We do not have a specific policy for verifying credentials of either faculty or
staff, however, our Provost's Office provided me with this info on their
procedures for hiring of faculty:

"...we have procedures for verification of educational credentials for faculty
new hires. SACs, our accrediting body, requires verification and gives
guidelines on education credential for faculty. Their guidelines state, "For
all cases, the institution is responsible for justifying and documenting the
qualifications of its faculty". This is interpreted (by SACS and by
colleges/universities) to mean we have a certified transcript on file for any
faculty teaching at this university. Transcripts for new hires are collected
BEFORE an offer letter can be given."

Hope this helps,
Candice
