We have a Video Surveillance Operating Procedure : http://www.uvm.edu/policies/general_html/video_surveillance.pdf
It specifically prohibits placing cameras in residence hall hallways. But we do have cameras at entrances and I believe in common area lobbies of residence halls. Erica Erica Heffner, MEd, CCEP Asst. From: <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> on behalf of John Dye Reply-To: Association of College and University Policy Administrators Date: Thursday, February 25, 2016 at 11:48 AM To: "[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>" Subject: [acupa-l] Security Cameras With the proliferation of security cameras on campus, are there any policy concerns in terms of where cameras may be placed / areas which may be recorded / notice to persons entering those areas? It would seem there would be some privacy concerns, however I haven't found any regulations that speak to this issue. On our campus we are considering adding cameras to all dorm hallways to record who goes in and out of rooms (think Clery Act implications), however some feel there is a privacy expectation in hallways and that is similar to if a student is in their room. How does everyone differentiate personal versus public space? Kind regards, John -- [http://www.sva.edu/email/signature.gif] John E.
