Kim, It's a "one-woman-show" at my institution; however we are small, 8000 students on the credit side and another 6,000 plus on the non-credit side with about 850 employees. Having said that, my experience with ACUPA over the past 5 years has taught me that our challenges and issues are the same, no matter the size of the institution. I have attached a draft that we used for updating my job description in 2014. The policy writers at NWACC are usually the content experts within the departments tied to individual policies. I edit and manage policies and processes, and occasionally will draft a new one by request with help from my ACUPA colleagues.
Best of luck to you! I thought it would be helpful to learn what kind of qualifications you seek in policy analysts at your universities. What credentials do you solicit for personnel who help units with the drafting and revision of policies? Would any of you be willing to share a job description with me? Thank you for any assistance you can offer! Kind regards, Kim Strom-Gottfried, Ph.D. Smith P.
