Christine, You've been a genuine delight to work with, and we've had a lot of fun. I especially remember what a great time we had when I sat across the table from you at Fishbone's in Orlando!
I know you'll bring your unique and positive approach to all that you do, and I wish you absolute best in San Marcos. I'm thrilled to hear that you'll continue to "fight the good fight" through preaching and activism. I hope you'll stay in touch with some of us, even if only loosely. From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Christine Tata Sent: Tuesday, January 10, 2017 6:16 PM To: ACUPA-L <[email protected]> Subject: [acupa-l] A fond farewell... and a new opportunity for someone Greetings, ACUPA colleagues and friends! With mixed feelings, I want to let you know that I am retiring from my position as director of the UT Southwestern Policy Office as of the end of January. It has been a unique challenge that perhaps only the good people of ACUPA will fully understand. I leave grateful for all I have learned, but truly ready for the next phase of my life. My wonderful colleague, Melanie Woodard, will stay on in a new role of Policy Systems Administrator, which will involve increasing responsibility for the management of PolicyTech, which (fates be kind) will go live for us tomorrow. However, the Policy Office will remain blessed with two FTEs - the administration has reconfigured my FTE and posted a newly created position to work alongside her at a peer level and focus on the editorial and content side of the policies. Both will report as a team directly to our Vice President and Chief of Staff, who in turn reports directly to the President. (I am convinced that the President's Office is the best place to house a policy initiative! Ask me why!) If anyone is interested in doing policy work in Dallas, I would highly recommend that you consider this position. To apply, or just to review the job description we developed, you can find the posting here: http://jobs.utsouthwestern.edu/job/policy-coordinator-executive-editor-office-of-the-president-policy-administration-professional-526357/ I regret that I will not see you all in Minneapolis this year - I will be in the middle of moving to San Marcos, Texas, where I hope to be renewing my sidelines of studying, teaching, preaching, and activism. (And, all right, probably binge-watching some Netflix recommendations here and there.) I'll close by saying how deeply I have appreciated the collegial support and expert sharing that I have experienced from ACUPA through the years. I am proud to be a Pioneer Member, and I applaud the early decision that made an institutional membership transferable. It will give me great satisfaction to tell the next Policy Office incumbent about ACUPA and pass along some of the history. Thanks again for letting me be part of an organization filled with arguably the very kindest, cleverest, and most authentic people that ever survived a career in academic administration. Best wishes to each of you for prosperous and productive policy making... and beyond. xoxox Christine * * * Christine Tata, Ph.D. Director of Policy Administration UT Southwestern Medical Center 5323 Harry Hines Boulevard B2.100 / Mail Code 9002 Dallas, Texas 75390-9002 214-648-2866 ________________________________ UT Southwestern Medical Center The future of medicine, today.
