Melinda,

Clemson University does not have a policy on this topic, although it has been a
topic for our safety team. The safety discussion originated at Clemson when a
safety issue was identified in the Clemson community by those who are
photosensitive and prone to react to such lights with migraines, seizures,
sleep deprivation, fatigue, etc. Although it is not considered a topic for
policy per se, it is addressed at a more procedural level using scientific
guidelines and recommended settings for lights. More information on light
sensitivity can be found at this website:
http://www.epilepsy.com/article/2014/3/shedding-light-photosensitivity-one-epilepsys-most-complex-conditions-0.

Please let me know if you need any additional information.

Sincerely,

Logan

Subject: [acupa-l] Illuminated devices on campus

Colleagues,

Our campus is considering adopting a policy that addresses the use of flashing
or rotating lights, or illuminated moving signs in University buildings or on
any University grounds.

Do you have a policy, or related policies, that we can review?

Thank you in advance for any assistance you may provide.
