Sean, Welcome! At Ohio State, we have a few resources that may be helpful, though I know others have extensive glossaries.
Our “policy development” page offers our definitions of types of governing documents, toward the bottom: http://policies.osu.edu/policy-development.html Our Style Guidelines for University Policies offers definitions and guidance for each section of our policy template (including policy v. procedure): http://policies.osu.edu/assets/docs/StyleGuidelinesforUniversityPolicies.pdf Best of luck! II hope that the annual conference is going well and that I will be able to attend at a future point. In the meantime, I am hoping to tap into the expertise of this group. At my institution, we are working on a project to formalize our institutional policy on policies. One of the issues that seems to be tripping some members of our college up are questions of defining the various terms used in our policy on policies (e.g. policy vs. procedure, administrative vs. academic policy, unit-level vs. institutional-level policy, etc.). I'm wondering if anyone had a good example of policy definitions and/or a glossary of terms, or other related resources that they would be willing to share? Thank you for your assistance.
