Thanks, you've answered the questions. I do not have any need for R2 features so I will drop that from consideration. I was only thinking about using R2 because I suspect that eventually support for the non-R2 versions of 2003 will end before the 2003 R2 versions. I had the same reasoning in mind for SP2 vs. SP1.
