The vista tool looks like the cats meow. Thanks ;)

The Print Management tool in Vista superceded the PrintMig utility from
Microsoft. It does a much better job of exporting and importing than Printmig.
The 1.0 version in Server 2003 R2 does not have the same import/export
capability. I haven't looked at Server 2008, but I suppose it would be
comparable to the Vista version.

I successfully migrated a 1000-queue print server using the Vista tool, and no
hiccups along the way. Additionally, the Vista tool's 'Export list' function
(different from the full export/import) is great for documenting print queue
settings for ports, drivers, and queues.

Subject: Print Server Migration

Hi,

I am not sure if there is an *easy* way to do this or not but I figured it was
worth asking.

I have a Windows Server 2003 R2 system that is our print server. I want to
decommission the box as it is older and set it all up on a new Win2008 server
machine. Is there an easier way to move all the installed, shared printers
than documenting all the information and manually installing them on the new
machine, sharing them, and then telling everyone (300+ clients) to delete their
installed printers and connect to the new shares?

Thanks!
