I do this all the time. It never takes more than a few seconds to minutes (Office 2007 takes minutes) to push installs out via AD to our Win7 clients.

Then, I have to reboot, and it takes another 30 to 45 mins, then it's complete. For my XP clients, it takes about 15 mins., for the same software. I'm pushing, Office 2007, Adobe Reader, Adobe Flash v10, IE 7 settings, Java v6.xx, etc. A few times on my WinXP clients, it would hang on the Adobe Flash push, but the slowness for the Win7 clients is on every one.
