Yes. I thought of extending the inputText component, but I was hoping for a straightforward way and I thought it was using DWR. But it looks like it will take some time, so I will leave this for another time. But definitely an interesting project to do.

Just extends the component you want, implements ActionSource, create a renderer extending the parent component uses to add processDecode and renderScript copied from commandButton renderer.
