Very interesting points raised, but not exactly what I was trying to get
to.  I was thinking more along the lines that there are a lot of people
available to do something now.  Rather than make plans that will require
that the vast majority maintain a fairly dedicated commitment to the
organization for an extended period of time to accomplish something,
pick projects than have a relatively short time frame (couple of
months), and have some sort of legacy (some sort or study, survey,
website, etc).  That way it is easier to show that the organization can
accomplish something, and there is something to build on.
