I still think this should be CLUE's mandate...who ever heard of an
umbrella organization that doesn't promote what it's an umbrella for?

I did not feel inspired by your web page, nor did it inspire me to
contribute to the cause. I'll offer a few quick suggestions.

Liabel, the print version of slander, is when you make a disparaging
remark and give sufficient info to identify the party involved.
Comparing the Microsoft to drug dealers is a crime.

To get people behind you, you're going to have to say something more
than, "Gee, wouldn't it be great if we were rich enough to advertise?
Maybe pigs will fly, too!" Perhaps some sort of detailed plan as to how
to accomplish this might be in order. By detailed, I mean 12 pages
backed with marketing research.

Again, you need some hard facts to back up your statements. Advocacy is
the presentation of a logical case in support of something, an essay
with facts and statistics to back it up. If you don't have these, then
your page is FUD, no different than Microsoft.

You're words also alientate bosses which does not help the adoption of
Linux.

People don't want success stories. People want comparisions and
justifications. There's a terrible lack of studies, benchmarks and
statistics in the Linux community. A boss won't adopt Linux on the
basis of success stories. He has to justify his decision to go against
the flow with hard facts. In fact, we were talking about this at the
PegaSoft meeting last Thursday.

Why are people relucatant to adopt Linux? It's not because the boss
"doesn't get it"--the boss has real reasons and you need to address
those reasons.

> Dare I dream that we could even get our own TV commercial?

This destroys your credibility.

annual fee could be charged for business members and to companies that
supply Linux related products and services.

I'd like to hear why people are going to throw money at your site for no
apparent reason.

Creating an advocacy site takes a lot of work, research and planning. I
wish you the best of luck. Thanks for supporting Linux.
