Hi Sreedevi,
I think I know what the mis-understanding has been with you situation and
another poster on this forum(Amoker). Your camera can record DV video to
tape and also Mpeg movies to the memory stick. The memory stick movies are
of a much lower quality and can be transferred via USB to your computer -
they are meant for things like e-mail or websites where you can't use the
huge files or high data rates that you get with DV avi's. Premiere is
primarily intended for the high quality stuff off tape.
Your I-link connector is the firewire connector (the same thing, as others
have pointed out) - what you need for your movie capture (from tape in your
camera) is the i-link/firewire PCI card that goes in your computer and the
cable that goes between that and your camera. The cable has different size
connectors at either end - the big one connects to the card in your computer
via the connection on the back, and the other end with the smaller connector
connects to your camera. Switch on your camera before starting Premiere,
then use the capture function in Premiere to bring your video (that was
recorded on tape) into Premiere where you can edit it.
You will still have to use the USB for your little memory stick mpeg movies,
but I don't think they will work very well in Premiere which is intended for
avi type video that came off tape.
Regards
Wes D.
