Cable doesn't care about direction its a cable.
You attach the s-video cable to your camcorder and to an s-video port on a 
PC. If you do not have a s-video port on your PC then you're not going
get very far.

I again suggest that you send me your camcorder and tape(s) and I will 
capture the video and burn DVD+R discs for you for a modest reasonable 
fee per hour of raw footage. 

The arrangement you describe is inferior you are going through an extra 
generation of signal. REally the BEST solution is a digital 8 edit deck.
