Hi, it all sounds very expensive, but, if its the business you are in then its an essential tool. I do believe there is a free download of AVID on their website, its the basic edition, again I haven't used it, so don't know if its good/bad or indifferent. Prem is a lot easier to use IMHO, from the novice point of view, and although its a totally different product from when I first started using it. (V1) the basic usage hasn't dramatically changed too much. So I suppose I'm hooked onto it really, mostly because I use all the Adobe stable of products and they seem to work well with other apps I use (MacromedieMX2004, Steinberg).for my business needs. I have a friend who has AVID 3.5, never installed it, so don't know how old, or if its any good, but will see if I can get it to run on his box sometime, just to see the difference.
