RESPONSE
Randall,
Assuming that by 'When I stop the camcorder .... ' you mean just that and
you don't mean that you rewound to take a look at what you have recorded and
then tried to continue from where you left off, then your camera has a
fault. Every camera I have ever met is designed so that when it stops it
backs up slightly over the end of the last recorded section. Then when it
starts off next time it picks up the time code from the end of the last
section and continues it. If yours doesn't do this it should be fixed under
warranty.

If you HAVE rewound then you need to find the end of recording and back up
slightly into the end of it. On some cameras there is an 'End Search'
facility which will do this semiautomatically.
Has your camera just started suffering from this problem or have you always
had it?

For material which has already been shot with this problem the answer as
mentioned elsewhere on this list is to borrow a friend's camera and make a
digital copy (Firewire to Firewire) of the material.
