Thanks for pointing me in the right direction for troubleshooting my problem.  
My video card can handle high resoulution and refresh rates (ATI Radeon 
8500DV).  I made sure the "box" was checked to only show the refresh rates the 
monitor can handle and discovered that at 1600x1200 it can only go to 60hz, I 
have to drop to 1024x768 to get to 100hz.  I have to have at least 100 and 
120hz refresh rate is better.  So now I have to make a decision on whether to 
keep this monitor and deal with the lesser resolutin and refresh rate or spend 
more money and get a different monitor - one that I will probably have to order 
online!  

Has anyone had luck with the refurbished monitors and/or buying from 
http://www.acurateit.com?
