How often did you defrag your hard drives on your pc ?

I was a user from Premiere 4.2 and on, when I switched over to Premiere
Pro 1.5 I was skiptical and then after a few usage, I loved it, I've
done commercials, promotional videos, and tv shows with it and once in a
while I would have a 'blue screen' due to long time usage and hot room
temperature, but most of the time, it's steady, just got 2 Sony dcr-20
vtrs for two of the systems here (I have a total of 3, each with 1gig
RAM, each are a Pentium 4, each have a dvd dual-layer burner, each with
a rca monitor for viewing/testing) so I can do things quicly and not
killing my camcorder's head

The bottom line with Premiere Pro is it's a memory hog, so you should
make sure you have the best system put together (unless you are a
computer geek then you can troubleshoot it yourself, like me), and you
will be fine.

I love the new sequences, it really helps and I love the color
correction options, the better audio contrl, etc. Now, I just wish
there's a better handling of 24p :)

I'm not as far along in my business as Linda is, but I've done a
documentary, several music videos, and am currently producing a TV show
(which I shoot and edit), and am doing the videography an editing for
another TV show.. all on premiere pro. No problems to report.. Your
friend might want to work on his methodology... BTW, a bonus over
FCP, is that there our way more 3rd party filters for PC based editing
systems..

Actually, it seems your friend would be better served by being here
himself. Also I might, politely, and from curiousity, ask why are YOU
here? You're welcome here, at least by me... I know a couple of FCP
users, and they always ask me how I did this, or how I did that..

Tell you friend he 'read' wrong.. and to go ahead and upgrade...

Thanks,

Frank

A friend has premiere 6.5.
He spends hours "cutting scenes" in the timeline.

Is it worth installing Premiere Pro for the DV start/stop detecion? It
seems to me this would save a days work for long pieces.

My friend says he has read that pro isn't very good and has lots of
problems. Would any PP users care to confirm his opinion or set him
straight.

(Don't ask me I've got FCP).

Many Thanks.
