Subject: Premiere Pro Capture Device Offline

Installed Premiere Pro 1.5.
Installed successfully. Imported AVI file to test.
Imported still images to test. All OK.

Attempted to capture from Sony DSR-PD170.
Unable to get capture device online.
Unable to get sequence to playback to TV monitor through camcorder. (Which
has a pass through option).

In capture window message says "Capture Device Offline".
Tried online support. Worked through all options with no success.

Bottom line, Premiere Pro 1.5 either doesn't like the camcorder or the
firewire card. (DV Storm 2).

Can anyone advise?
Is this a common issue?

RESPONSE
Bob,
I can't answer your question directly but there are known 'issues' with the
Storm card and its use with Premiere Pro.
I am not sure whether the problems relate to Premiere Pro itself or to
Windows XP but it seems that Canopus never really got the drivers sorted out
for the Storm / Prem Pro before they moved on to a greater interest in their
own software EDIUS.
The Canopus website (for the latest drivers) and the Canopus forum are
probably the best place to look for info if no-one on this List can give you
a definitive answer. You could also try a direct question to Canopus
themselves of course.
Does anyone on this list use Storm or Storm 2 with Premiere 6.5 AND Windows
XP? I'd be interested to know.
