I can help with the auto-resizing. Just go to Project->Project Settings->General and make sure the box is checked off that says "Resize to fit screen" or some such words. It's near the bottom of the Settings window. That will resize all stills to fit in the screen. Sometimes you may need to tweak the scale settings, especially if you have important elements near the edges of the picture.
