I too have not been able to compete particularly for film editing work because most film clients require FCP. Like Johnny I've noticed a conspicuous absence of Premiere requests in ads and among filmmakers at large. Though it has not as much of an issue with music video, sports, live event and wedding clients, the film community seems fixated with FCP. Aside from the lag in support for 24p & HDV now corrected in 1.5, I don't understand the problem.
Being a PC devotee, I'm been exclusively a Premiere user thru 6.5, configuring a dual-processor workstation around Premiere. However, I'm feeling the need to purchase a MAC/FCP system (or AVID) before upgrading to Pro 1.5+ given my limited resources to generate additional work. As mention in prior post...Adobe may need to market to the film industry more aggressively...would think that the indie film community particularly would embrace the PC-based Premiere. Also Premiere should support FCP & Avid projects (or EDLs) given that many have come to me with incomplete projects started on FCP, that I've had to turn away. Would also note that Adobe did not have a significant presence at DVExpo East this year where in years past the kiosk workshops and seminars they offered kept me interested and inspired by their products. FCP/Apple & the NY FCP user group were there in full force with people lining up to participate. The only thing I've done to cope with clients requesting FCP is to delete mentions of Premiere or any particular NLE software in my resume & website. Hopefully I'll be able to make a specific program irrelevant in deference to my knowledge, skills, experience and creative sensibilities when soliciting potential clients. It's not the meat...it's the motion. Chuck www.ChucksFilms.com www.ChucksVideos.com www.TheFilmLink.com ------------------------ Yahoo!
