I can only suggest from afar :) try this: 1. switch different firewire cable 2. switch different firewire card 3. check for tsr programs running in the background? (I finnd that the little qtray.exe if it's running in the background, it crashes my computer - apparently it likes to poke the net for me)... 4. make sure not a lot of background programs are running, sometimes you need to disable antivirus program as well. 5. directx driver, are they the latest? 6. graphic card driver are they the latest? 7. graphic card, is it a decent one? :)
So, that would help you a bit... Sorry can't be of more help. That was my understanding as well. At least until my camera's firewire I/O died and I tried finding replacements. "I've used cameras that aren't listed there and had no problem capturing it through firewire to my computer." At first, I thought it was simply because the COMPUTER didn't recognize the devices, but when it recognized Sony deck (but Premiere couldn't capture from it -- no hardware profile), I tried using WMM, figuring as you did -- once it's an AVI, who cares WHERE it came from. Still crashed. 8( Now I wonder if there's an issue with my FW card... "Do you have enough computer power to work with?" Boy, if I don't we're all hurtin'! 2+ G micro, about 2G of RAM and a few hundred G of hard drive dpace. puzzled monkey, Edward -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Because sometimes, you just HAVE to make movies. http://www.Guerrilla-Productions.org/ Yahoo!
