Michael Snell,
Under 'General Settings" the edit mode is "DV Rex"...the compressor is
"Canopus DV Rex Codec".  When I use "Video for Windows" instead 
of "DV Rex", it sort of does a real time preview, but messes up at 
the beginning and end of a cross dissolve transition.  NOW GET THIS:
if I place a key on vid 2 or 3 or whatever, the real time preview 
works!  as long as I'm in the "Video for Windows" format.  Go figure.
