Hi! We bought 2 Maxtor Onetouch 200 Gb. First one broke, the fw-controller in it burned. Got a new one, same happened after two weeks. Had to keep on working this time, so I took out the disk from the Maxtor FW-case, mounted the disk inside PC like an ordinary HD. Worked well.
Now only one out of three Maxtor Onetouch still works, this is a revised model, but still I´m too scared to use it as a FW disk. Always use the USB 2.0 connection instead, hoping that this will keep it from burning. I wonder if I should conclude that external disks is a bad idea?
