Taky, I know this is not for me, but I would be able to compare the both
stand along versions as I own both and used both extensively.
MainConcept Mpeg Encorder 1.52 (the stand along one which if you own
Premiere can get it for $80 about) and ProCoder are both great tools, I
use them both for different projects.

Because quality playback is critical for my clients, most of the time
it's for big screen projection, I usually use my own settings when use
either of these software, HOWEVER, I've found issues with one that the
other can solve and vice versa.

MainConcept's Mpeg Encoder works great with NTSC videos, but if your
video is 24p, it has some issues in encoding.

ProCoder works great with PAL to NTSC conversion (I do this a lot with
music videos of unsigned bands for a local tv show), it provides
excellent quality, however, I find problems with lower field- video
clips conversion from .avi to mpeg2 (quality is not as good as
MainConcept's. Lately that ProCoder have some issue encoding a 1 hr
fashion/talent show video from .avi to mpeg2 but mainconcept did it
without a glitch.

So, personally, I would keep both, I also found ProCoder to do much
wider range of conversion than MainConcept can, and ProCoder is like
Discreet's Cleaner (another encoding tool that I use for quicktime
enconding), ProCoder seems to be able to encode well with .mov files to
.avi.

thanks

Assuming Pro uses the Main Concept MPEG encoder as does 6.5, I felt
the
same way and have since done enough tests to convince myself and
others
that Procoder Express from Canopus does a much better job with motion.
I
believe they have a trial version available, but the price is quite
reasonable, particularly if you have need of a format converter.
Procoder
will change just about anything into anything else and do a good job
of it.
It functions both as a plug in and stand alone.

Hi,

I have been getting very poor result from the "export to DVD" fonction
