In order for Premiere to create a transition, it must have video frames
to work with. In other words, there must be a little bit of overlap in
order for the transition to work correctly. If you do not have any
overlap, or 'handles,' then Premiere has nothing to work with to create
a transition. The nice thing that Premiere does, is to allow you to
actually place the transition, so that it could start at the cut, be
centered on the cut, end at the cut, or any place in between. However,
you must have some handles on your two clips for Premiere to work with.
BTW, it's kinda strange to see a Brit typing with a New York accent! I
always called it a "window", not a "winder." ;-)
