Very strange. The firewire output on TWO different Sony mini-DV Handycams have failed on me. Yes, I've checked the cables and the software and reset the cameras. I can only guess that a faulty cable zapped the cameras in turn when connected to my PC. I can still get an analog signal out of the cameras. Since I need to get some projects done before sending in the cameras to be fixed, how bad will the quality of the analog tranfer be compared with digital through the firewire? Also, do you think I should search for an inexpensive mini-DV player instead of fixing the cameras (as it will cost $129 just to repair the camera that's still under warranty, assuming Sony can handle it...plus they'll have my best camera for a while)? Thanks!
