I have the same problem, Premiere says to reconnect the device but
nothing works. Oddly enough I can control the camera but no picture
and no capture. I even sent the camera back to Sony to check. Other
capturing programs work fine. I have tried trial versions of Vegas and
Ulead, no problem in either. This maybe a Premiere issue as I have
heard others have the same problem.
So I dumped Premiere for capture and I use a freeware program to
capture now called HDVsplit. It just works.
Experimenting with Vegas has proved interesting, Vegas seems a lot
more at home editing HDV than Premiere does, but I like Premiere and
am used to it but maybe its time to look elsewhere for a better tool
for the job in hand.
