Dear Fred,
I struggled for a long time on doing freeze frames on P-6.5. The
instructions in the book are complex and there should be an easy way. I
usually just gave up and did it the simple way, not a true freeze frame but
if you don't need it too long, this works well.
Just select the frame you want, make a razor blade cut on that frame.
Advance the time line 3 or 4 frames, (experiment with this) and razor again.
This gives you a clip of 2 to 4 frames. Move the tail end of the rest of
the clip out of the way and then click on your 2 frame clip. Right click
and select speed and make that clip slow motion. I use 5 % or 2 % or 1 %
depending. Play with it. Usually works very well for 2 to 10 second
freezes. If there is a lot of movement in your clip, you will eventually
see it jump to the next frame.
Here is a better way I just learned. Put curser on frame you want, click on
file > export time line > frame. Click settings (I use bmp), name it and
save. It appears as a clip with that name (.bmp) in your editing bin and
just drag it into the time line and extend as needed. Simple, clean, takes
only seconds.
If you have some fluttering, play with start fields etc. or choose a
different frame with out so much motion.
Good luck and thank you to the forum for all the good information.
Cheers,
Bob in San Diego
