I don't know the answer to this question, but I suppose if you store the 
file in native format, you can later convert to whatever you need, or 
assume that one size won't fit all and you may need to convert it to 
something else down the line to use it in a different project

if space is an issue, perhaps you can store things on an external drive 
if they are waiting to be used but not currently in use
