Very curious. But since you are doing this for a church I suspect you need to do this regularly; it would be a crying shame if you have to isolate out the audio week after week.
In this review of the DCR-SR42 http://www.camcorderinfo.com/content/Sony-DCR-SR42-Camcorder-Review-33637/Format.htm under Editing (6.0) it states: “Popular NLEs like Adobe Premiere, Apple Final Cut Pro, and Ulead Video Studio are highly compatible with the DCR-SR42’s .MPG file format, and files need only be dragged and dropped into the program to start editing.” Nothing was said if he actually tested it in each of those applications. One person on a different forum said “Just make sure you have an MPEG-2 DirectShow codec installed on your system. I'd recommend ffdshow-tryouts: http://ffdshow-tryout.sourceforge.net/ That might be grasping for straws, I don’t know. Otherwise a different camera might be in order. EXT ok, but as I said before, when I import a mpg file, cs3 doesn't recognize the file as a "video-and-audio-film". the icon that appears beside the name of the file is a "pelicula film", what means that the program recognized that file as a "video-film" only... because this I have to extract the audio of the archives previosly.
