It won't do anything for performance. Ie, you don't want to have a scratch and
work disk on different partitions on the same drive.
What it is good for is organization. You can keep your raw captured video
separate from your projects or if you're working on more than one large job you
could make three or four partitions to keep their files apart.
On internal drives where the OS is installed, I like to have a smaller boot
partition for the OS and applications, with some room to grow. (Small being a
relative term. For Vista or 7, 100 gigs can get to feeling cramped for space.)
I try to keep downloads, video files and other important stuff off of the boot
partition. Makes it much simpler to 'nuke and pave' just the boot partition
when I want to do a clean OS install.
