I have the Nikon D5000 which records 720p 24fps.
The best is to complete a project in that format and also do the
final rendering with those settings.
I have mixed the footage with "PAL" footage (25fps) and rendered to
PAL standard with very good results.
The rendering time obviously depends on your computer power but
you can always do it when you sleep ;-) .
Must say though that rendering such material on my vintage computer does not
take very long and I know your computer is much better than mine but
then I don't
know your friends computer.
Let your friend decide on the camera he/she likes and I don't think
there will be
problems editing the material.
