Hi Uwe,

I have the same camera you do, as I know you are aware, and I have turned off
the GPS locator for now since it has no meaning for me for the events I am
recording.
It does, indeed, take a lo-o-o-ng time to transfer the m2ts files from the
camera to the computer with Sony's utility software. However, the camera's
manual strongly cautions users to use the utility to transfer files and not to
transfer files through Windows explorer (I don't have the manual with me at the
moment, but swear it said something about damaged files if you did not use the
utility).
So I get the video and cmuprops files on my computer. Then I move the video
files to another drive for editing work and do not use the cmuprops files. I
have never had a problem in Premiere (CS4) without the properties files.
The properties files are very small anyway so I don't think it will save you a
lot of time if you did not transfer them.
After I transfer my video files I make a backup of them onto DVDs for
safekeeping (I am still getting used to the tapeless workflow). This also takes
a lo-o-ong time but I feel better knowing I have the original files saved
somewhere.
