As you know, getting the video off of the camera onto the computer is not a
Premiere issue - that will be determined by the camera interface
capabilities.

Some years ago I bought JVC's with HD's which work out just fine. But there
have been times since when I would have liked to keep the cameras setup in
an auditorium, but because of the non-removable HD's I always have to take
them down anyway. You may never have that problem, I don't know. (Since then
mfgr's have been using removable solid state devices, which I would much
prefer.) Files from all my cameras can be copied directly from the camera to
the computer HD using Windows itself, without any product-specific software.
The Sony should let you do that also, although I have noticed Sony sometimes
tends to buck standards and go their own way, so it is possible that with
that Sony you might have to use Sony-provided software.

In any case, once the files are on the computer, Premiere CS5 should be able
to handle them. That Sony makes AVCHD files which Premiere should handle,
although I don't know anyone who has that camera to verify it.

. . . My main concern was getting the video from the camera to my PC and
PPro
CS5 for editing.

Again, thanks for the input.
