I have a question dealing with videos once they're finished in
Premiere and out in the real world: how much is reasonable to charge
for licensing them for web broadcast?
I've been approached by an educational media company in Shanghai to
put some of my videos up on their web site, and we're both completely
at sea about what a fair licensing fee is for both of us. Some
details: these videos are from 3-5 minutes long, they want long-term
non-exclusive licensing (many years), and I don't have to create
anything new for them (right now). These videos all exist, and
they'll take the videos as is.
I have to say that I'm impressed that the company is doing the right
thing and asking permission and offering to pay something. China is
not always good about copyright matters. I don't want to scare them
off by asking too much, but I'd also like to get something for my
work if I can.
Any advice much appreciated,
Mike Boom
