For 1) that does sound strange. No one uses tabs to move around in Premiere Pro, they use the mouse. There is no default setting for that either, as far as I know. It sounds like a Win7 problem. 2) It should keep playing as long as you remain within the application and not click in another Timeline or the Program panel (because clicking in the Program Panel is for making position, etc., adjustments). You should be able to go from panel to panel. If you leave the Windows application, it should stop. 3) The Source Panel allows you to drag a resource from the Project panel into the Source Panel for perusal, whether video, image, audio, Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator, or whatever. Sequence Panels are for the purpose to assemble sequences of clips, which can also contain resources other than video clips. The Program Panel shows all the tracks on the Timeline that has the focus, rendered together, something like a Preview. Notice the Program Panel has buttons and tools not available in a Timeline Panel. For a test I undocked a Timeline and everything still functioned consistent with it being docked - I'm not sure what problem you had. A good place to go for some of this information (but much more) is Adobe's training tutorials here <http://www.adobe.com/designcenter/video_workshop/> . Note they have Premiere CS3 as their latest but that should suffice. Hoping this helps get you started. Lee From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of OK Sent: Thursday, February 17, 2011 1:57 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [AP] Newbie questions. mouse, wav file Hi..I have had premiere Pro in CS4 for a while but my learning has been retarded by the new hoops I have to jump through to figure out how it works and the fact that I Vegas on another computer.
1) First of all, I'm a little frustrated by the default controls. I want to mouse around and control everything, but I have to tab around like an antique computer on DOS before the invention of the mouse. 2) Next I would rather have the video keep playing while I'm clicking around somewhere else. Anytime you touch anything the video stops. Its not a malfunction its just a default setting. 3) the Source Pane, the Program: sequence and the Timeline:sequence The source Pane seems to show and playback just the raw video with its original audio. The Program: Sequence pane seems to show just the video which is connected to the Timeline: Sequence. Now If i have the Timeline Sequence undocked... suppose I want to move it a little.. then stops the video. That's where I would want it to keep playing. I know where the stop button is if I want it to stop. These aren't even basic editing problems yet. How do I put different audio in the audio track? Thanks a lot if anybody can help with any of these obstacles. thanks a lot paul http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1NhQ8S53-A Here's one I did with Vegas. singing sucks a little, but..you're not supposed to use too much copyrighted material.
