NTSC DVD maximum resolution is 720x480. PAL maximum DVD resolution is 720x576.
Some lower resolutions are supported but rarely used.
That's the best DVD can be. To go from HD to DVD requires downsampling, much
the same as shrinking a photo but for 25 or 30 photos per second.
Unless you have a computer with plenty of processing power to spare, it will
increase the rendering time, especially if you do 2-pass variable bitrate for
higher quality.
