I haven't seen any chatter here in the last few months on an optimal
system to run Premiere Pro CS5.5, so I thought I'd check in to see if
folks have new recommendations. I'll be editing 1920x1080 AVCHD
files, and want to replace my old motherboard and CPU without busting
my wallet. Here's what I'm looking at:
- CPU: Intel Core i7 - 2600K - 3.4 GHz (Sandy Bridge architecture,
four core hyperthreading)
- Motherboard: ASUS P8Z68 Deluxe (supports the CPU, includes SATA
6GHz connections)
- RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series, 16 GB, DDR3, 1600
I'll be using existing power supply, SATA drives, Blu-Ray drives, and so on.
The whole kit and caboodle comes up to about US$725.
Any opinions about whether this should do the job? Any additions you
can think of?
I'm also curious if any one version of Windows 7 supports Premiere
Pro better than any others.
Thanks for any info,
Mike Boom
P.S. I have a friend who recommends using a 240 GB SSD as the boot
drive for really high performance, but it's expensive and I'm unsure
that it will really speed up Premiere video rendering operations.
