Greetings: I edit with Premiere CS5 with laptops and self contained external drives(such as Glyph, G Tech) so far, primarily dv but am starting to edit HD-dslr and dvcpro hd -from P2 cards. I am looking into using the raw sata internal drives as external with a connecting dock to laptop. I'm interested in your experience and product suggestions with this setup, whether it is suitable for editing (cool enough, etc), or only for transfer of data for backup. I am in process of purchasing a controller to put in laptop express card slot to convert to usb 3.0 and see various dock products. How reliable have you found this external solution to be ?
there are some docks that offer other ports, esata, firewire, usb 3---how does esata compare to usb 3 for editing ? I'm considering this dock: a Siig dual dock http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817270026 and purchased this controller: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/706443-REG/SIIG_JUEC0112S1_2_Port_USB_3_0_SuperSpeed.html Thanks for your advice Regards, Stan Stan Kurtis [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] ------------------------------------ Yahoo!
